About your guide
For over a decade, street, documentary, and travel photography hasn't been a profession for me, it's been the way I understand India.
Born in Varanasi, shaped by Kolkata — two cities that taught me how to read the streets long before I ever held a camera. I've spent these years on the ground, in the chaos, learning the rhythm of places most people only pass through. That fluency is what I've built my work on, and it's what I bring to every photographer I work with. I've mentored more than 500 photographers and led over 50 tours and workshops across India, from the lanes of Kolkata to Varanasi, Rajasthan, Ladakh, and Delhi. I've worked with first-time travellers and seasoned professionals alike, and I know how to meet each of them where they are and push them further. What sets the work apart isn't gear or technique, it's instinct. After years on these streets, I can anticipate a moment before it forms, find the frame inside the chaos, and teach others to do the same. That's not something you learn from a manual. It comes from time, attention, and thousands of hours of looking. I shoot with the Leica M11-P, after years with the Leica Q series, documenting India in its most authentic form, one street at a time.
Meet ShivamReviews
"Two days is definitely not enough — I can already see myself coming back to explore more of India with Shivam and his team. I felt totally safe the whole time. Highly recommend."
"This was my third trip to India and a month in, the photos I took with Shivam are the best of the trip. He has a real gift for showing you the city most tourists never see."
"He opened doors I'd have walked right past, and showed me a side of the city tourists never get to see. Through the lens, I kept finding the same thing over and over — resilience."
Best photography experience I have ever had. Shivam knowledge of the city is unmatched — and his ability to help you connect with people on the street is extraordinary.
"I've made exponential progress in just a few days — Shivam made me a far better photographer. Annoyingly he is a good teacher, and I'll absolutely be coming back."
Shivam made our Kolkata and Varanasi trip truly special. His knowledge of people and places is extraordinary and his patience is endless.
